Ka'ena Point Hike

This labor day weekend we hiked the trail leading
to Ka'ena Point, which was a 2.5 mile hike in the hot sun!
We invited the McGill family along to join in on our little
adventure. Ka'ena Point is located on the west side of the
island near Waialua. The only feasible way to get to the
point is to either drive a jeep or truck...we chose to walk.
It was a beautiful hike...on our left was desert(y) vegetation
and on the right the blue sparkling ocean. The first mile
was a breeze until Noah became fussy and wanted to nurse
and then things became a little more difficult. Nontheless
we enjoyed the outdoors. Ka'ena Point is home to the
Hawaiian Monk Seals, unfortunately, we didn't get to
see any once we entered the park, which was at the VERY
end of our hike. But, the view was BREATHTAKING! The
kids enjoyed playing in the water while the rest of us adults
sat among the piles and piles of coral along the beach.

Dallas saved the day and raced back to the trailblazer with
Noah in the carrier to save us from the hot sun. By the time he
caught up with us in the tb we had half a mile to go and were
so grateful to him for saving the day!!

*Looking back (two and a half months later)...I wish we would
have taken more chances with our hiking adventures around
the island especially, now that our time on the island is
 drawing to a close.
