Boxes and Moving

A PCS move is not for the faint of heart, let me tell you that much. What is a PCS move? A Permanent Change of Station move, which is authorized by the military (ARMY), in this case Dallas received new orders to attend his Captain's Career Course in Fort Gordon, Georgia for a period of six months. We received these orders in October and had about a month and a half to prepare. To prepare Dallas had to submit numerous amounts of paperwork and I had to weed through our belongings and make sure unnecessary items were not packed and pack articles of clothing (summer and winter clothing) that we would need on our trip to the mainland, both of which became pretty stressful.

                                    
The movers came a couple of days before Thanksgiving to pack our home goods, which took an amazing three hours and then another hour and a half to load our belongings in crates to be shipped across the Pacific Ocean. We were super excited to have everything FINALLY loaded up and out of the house, but a BIG part of me ached...so many memories, I was beginning to feel the reality of leaving Hawaii. 

Sad to leave our five bedroom home and "MY" Plumeria Tree right outside the kitchen window. Sounds silly, but these "silly" things tend to grow on you.

Anyways...a day before Thanksgiving we shipped off our vehicle at the port en route to the mainland, lived in our furniture free home (with the exception of Aloha Furniture) for three weeks, rented a vehicle for three and a half weeks and stayed in a hotel (Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki) for ten days before our scheduled flight to leave the Island of Oahu.

Pretty intense?...I know...and that is ONLY leaving the island. No complaints. I feel it was a blessing to have lived there and I am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL for the opportunity it gave my family to have lived in such a beautiful part of the world! Hawaii will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart, it is my second home and it is where I experienced the most spiritual growth. Aloha `Oe
